Municipal lives for site lighting (G4020)

26 municipalities in Ontario state a life for site lighting as a whole, in 25 distinct tables: 2–60 years, median 25. 27 rows come from capital asset policies (accounting lives, used for amortization) and 9 from asset management plans (planning lives, used to forecast replacement). They describe the system rather than this component, and none is a measured life.

Open questions

  • HUD gives planning lives for US multifamily housing; the municipal rows are Ontario accounting lives. Neither is observed replacement data.
  • Written for GSA contracted O&M in US federal buildings; job plans are generic and defer to manufacturer instructions, and the fire extinguisher plans only point to NFPA 10.
  • A maintenance contract specification for New Zealand state highway lighting; intervals are contract minimums.
